Pay rent by credit card in Australia

Last updated 6 Oct 2026. Fees and rules checked against primary sources on 6 Oct 2026.

Most agents only take bank transfer or BPAY. A bill payment service can charge your card and pay your agent by bank transfer. Here's what it costs, what your agent needs to have, and when it's worth it.

Fees apply and are shown by the provider before you pay. Card The Bill may receive a referral reward from providers we link to.

How it works with Sniip

  1. If your agent accepts BPAY: add the bill in Sniip with the biller code and reference. No form needed.
  2. If not: send Sniip your lease or a rent receipt (by email to rent@sniip.com or in the app). It needs the agency's ABN, BSB and account number, your payment reference, the property address and the amount. Sniip says setup takes 1 business day.
  3. Pay once or set up recurring rent (weekly, fortnightly or monthly) on the card you choose. Your agent receives a normal bank transfer.

Check first: Sniip can't pay private landlords. Your rent must go to a licensed real estate agent with an ABN.

Timing

Rent paid by bank transfer isn't instant. Sniip processes payments made before 5pm AEST on a business day for the next business day, and your agent may take a day or two to show it. Set recurring rent a few days before it's due.
